We are a keen training practice and often have doctors in training at the practice. We have both GP Registrars and F2 Doctors.
GP registrars are fully qualified doctors who have chosen to specialise in General Practice. They work independently but are supervised by all staff with a lead trainer overseeing the process. They are with us for 3-12 months depending on their training program.
F2 Doctors are also fully qualified but have yet to specialise. Some may wish to be GPs but others will be getting experience in General Practice before going on to careers in Hospital Medicine. Again, they are fully supported with a lead trainer within the practice and are with us for 4 months each.
The practice nurses are normally available to see patients, by appointment, during surgery hours. They can be seen for dressings, immunisations, travel vaccinations, ear syringing and general advice on health matters.
The practice nurses also run clinics for family planning, asthma, diabetes, and other health related problems including smoke stop. In addition, practice nurses may also be seen for well-woman checks, which include cervical smears.
To contact a practice nurse or make an appointment, please ring your usual surgery during surgery hours.
Our District Nurses are employed by the High Peak & Dales PCT, and cover the surgeries at Darley Dale, Winster and Youlgreave. They work closely as a team with the doctors, and are able to provide treatment at home and advise about convalescence after discharge from hospital.
To contact a district nurse or make an appointment, please ring your usual surgery during surgery hours.
Our Health Visitors are employed by the High Peak & Dales PCT, and cover the surgeries at Darley Dale, Winster and Youlgreave. They are nurses specially trained to deal with the health of the whole family - especially children.
Patients will often meet the health visitor before the birth of a baby, and the health visitor also contacts new mothers to arrange a first baby check when a baby is two weeks old. The Health Visitor also arranges childhood immunisations, and is available to give health education and advice.
To contact the health visitor or make an appointment, please ring 01629 734705. The practice health visitors are Alison Edwards and Pauline Neep.
The High Peak & Dales PCT also employ the community midwives, who are nurses specially trained to care for women throughout normal pregnancy, labour and after the birth. They are involved in all aspects of maternity care, and the name of your midwife will be given when booking your first antenatal session.
To contact a midwife at the Darley Birth Centre, please ring 01629 593019.
The practice manager, Stephen Horton, is based at the Darley Dale Medical Centre and is supported by surgery managers at Winster and Youlgreave. They are responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the practice.
The practice manager is available between 9.00am - 5.00pm to discuss any queries or concerns you may have relating to the practice and its organisation.
The receptionists are here to help you, and to assist in the efficient running of the surgery for the benefit of all patients. Please be assured of their highest regard for the confidentiality of your care, and should they request it, please give them as much information as possible.
We have the highest regard for our staff and ask that they be treated with due consideration and respect at all times.
